Knowing me, knowing you...

Taking a brief moment away from knitting, i'm catching up on reading some of the 200-odd blog posts sitting in my Reader that have been building up.

Once upon a time, when I was new to blog land, I spent hours reading blogs, going far back into histories to understand who each blogger ticked. I would eagerly anticipate new posts, commenting left right and centre. It was how I got to know Nikki, Louise and Martha, among lots of others.

These days I lament not having the time of attention span to 'get to know' all the bloggers I follow - mainly I focus on beautiful images, colours and short snippets of words.

Which started me thinking - I would like to get to know you better. What are your blog-reading habits? Can you admit to being a blog stalker? What are your favourite colours, yarn bases, patterns? Where are you from?

Shall I start?
Blog habits - i'm a skimmer right now. But I used to be an investigator - looking deep!
Blog stalker - yep!
Fave colour - yellow in life, green or orange in yarn (not together)
Fave yarn base - merino! Merino and silk, merino and cashmere, anything just a bit luxurious
Fave pattern - Cookie A's Monkeys, and anything in my Ravelry queue!
Where from - Wellington, NZ. But I was born in New Plymouth, NZ, have lived in Melbourne, Australia, Methven, Canterbury NZ, and London.

Off you go! Share!

  1. Oh, Hey, so nice to meet you. I am completely smitten with the Knitsch yarns that came in the Blendy samplers. I'm not much of a sock knitter though, the second sock curse gets me every time.
With blogging, I'm a skimmer right now too,
off to mull over those other questions for a bit...
Promise I'll be back here again

  2. Blog habits - Vaguely naughty.. like I feel like I shouldn't be doing it as much as I do.
Blog stalker - Again, vaguely. RSS feeds keep me slightly distant, yet crazy obsessed.
Fave colour - sunset pink in real life, but you can't copy that well into real life so probably Crimson. In yarn, anything that changes from one color to the next in a ball.
Fave yarn base - Anything I can get at the Thrift store
Fave pattern - There's this person online who does pokemon characters patterns... those are scary awesome.
Where from - I am from Vancouver island in beautiful British Columbia Canada
And I LOVE yarn bombing. (http://gmotherslegacy.blogspot.com/)

  3. Hi Tash,

Thanks for stopping by spinning a yarn. I'm a bit of a blog stalker, but trying to get better about commenting, especially on local blogs!

You definately should get your wheel out of storage- what is it? Would you be interested in doing a bit of a swap- fibre for yarn maybe? Send me an email :)

  4. Blog habits - as in my blog? Try to update fairly regularly. It's a good record of what I've done, and keeps my family and friends 'informed' of the haps
Blog stalker? - Absoutely ;-> I have a list of blogs on RSS feed that I check regularly (several daily blogs). Most of the time I read them all - there are a few I skim read though, unless its really interesting...
Fave colour - RL - black, blue and purple. Yarn - anything goes!
Fave yarn base - mmmmmm merino...
Fave pattern - at the moment, the February Lady Sweater. LOVE it!!!
Where from - originally Napier in good ol' Hawkes Bay, but currently living in Wellington, which I also LOVE ;-)

  5. Good questions.
I'm a skimmer due to lack of time (2 businesses run from home and a toddler) but I do leave comments, for sure. Mostly short ones... it's important to me because it's a way of saying hi, being friendly, and respecting people's blogs (and creative works). Connectedness is important to me, and I've met some great people via the blogosphere. Would love the time to do more of it. Favourite yarn base btw? Merino/Silk.
